Route 07: The Diaspora Coast
Days 3–4 · Kaiping — shown in full, exactly as it appears in the pack
This is one stop from one route, unredacted except for the hotel name and booking link. Every pack goes into this depth for every single stop — seven stops on this route alone.
Days 3–4 · Kaiping
The Diaolou towers — six hundred watchtower-mansions rising from paddy fields, fusing Cantonese village construction with European baroque and Art Deco. UNESCO-inscribed 2007.
At dawn, when mist sits in the paddies below the towers, the landscape looks like a composition that took two hundred years to arrange.
📅 Best time to visit Kaiping: October through December, after typhoon season clears the coast. The full pack includes a complete seasonal guide for every stop.
What to Eat in Kaiping
Cantonese Village Lunch — Steamed fresh fish, stir-fried water spinach with garlic, braised pork with preserved mustard greens.
Fresh River Fish — The Tanjiang River yields freshwater fish that don’t make it to the city markets.
Golden Hour Clock
7:30 AM · Kaiping — Zili Diaolou village
Low morning light on the watchtower facades with mist still sitting in the paddy fields below. The most dramatic 30 minutes of light on the entire route.
Bilingual Address Card
Every stop includes a bilingual address card, ready to show a driver or hotel desk — no Chinese required from you.
